His day job involves working with people and businesses across Florida, encouraging them to find ways to make health and wellness part of their personal and corporate culture. At night, he’s stretching and contorting his body into incredible positions in his 105-degree Bikram yoga classes.
For Tony Jenkins, Market President for Central and Northwest Florida at Florida Blue, it’s all about walking the walk. In his role with the health solutions company, his goal is to help people stay out of doctor’s offices and he knows that when people take control of their health, they become happier, more productive people. And that not only saves his customers money, it’s good for the community and good for his business.
Florida Blue is opening retail centers across the state to offer people — customers and non-customers — opportunities to get advice about their policies, free health assessments, one-on-one meetings with nurses and much more. They stand out because they treat their customers as individuals, helping to tailor realistic wellness plans for them and their families.
That’s also why Tony participates in Bikram classes, even when people tell him they think he’s crazy! He says he wants to be a role model to his colleagues and customers that making time for health is crucial. For Tony, the yoga classes allow him to detox his body and mind, and he says while he’s always tired after class, he also has a renewed energy — and that’s reflected in the passion he brings to the office each and every day.
