We LOVE hearing about workplace wellness programs across Central Florida — but we need your help to recognize the great work that Executives and others are doing. Please take a moment and submit your story and we’ll share it with the world! Plus, you’ll get some great benefits just for participating in the Central Florida Executive Challenge.
Kathy Pierson is President and Founder of Kathy Pierson Communications, and tells us that as a leader, staying healthy creates a healthy work environment! She also says that exercise and a healthy atmosphere is good physically and mentally for all employees and boosts morale, which in the long run is good for everyone in the workplace.
So how is Kathy leading by example?
I am training for the 20th anniversary Walt Disney World Half Marathon for January 12, 2013! I have begun training this month and will continue up until the event in January.
I run four to five times a week that includes 3-5 miles during the week each day and then long runs on the weekends that include six to 10 miles as we get closer to the event. I have also registered for the Track Shack Running Series, which includes six organized races from August 2012 through March 2013 and they range from 5K’s (3.1 miles) to 10K’s (6.2 miles). I have been part of the Track Shack Running Series for over 15 years. Plus, I try to cross train, so I ride my bike and weight train two to three times a week! It keeps me young!
My first organized 5K is on August 15th – Celebration of Running at the Orlando Science Center. This is the kick-off race to the Track Shack Running Series. I normally train by myself, but I am going to try to hook up with a running group here in Osceola County, so at least once a week I can run with a group, mostly for my long distance running on the weekends.
We are so excited to support Kathy on her journey and we know that she is serving as an inspiration to other Executives and employees across Central Florida!
